Honestly, what an oxymoron. How do Vogue and fast fashion even end up in the same sentence? It's no secret that retail is one of the most impacted industries from COVID-19; I work in retail and I see it almost every day. While all stores are affected, I can guarantee close to no one is shopping in the luxury market at this time. To help combat the detriment on the industry, Vogue and the CFDA created an initiative called 'A Common Thread' to raise brand awareness and profits for small/medium size American designers that were impacted by the ongoing pandemic, as well as their seamstresses and pattern makers.
*Enter Amazon*
The largest online retailer in the world essentially created an online store to keep 20 designers and their staff afloat. Amazon exposes these designers to a larger market, generates some cash, and in turn, consumers can shop luxury at a "better price." While I won't be purchasing from the Vogue x Amazon Fashion collaboration (my bank account says 'no'), I highly encourage you to look at the initiative and each designer's story. These are some of my favorite pieces and how I would style each.
Victor Glemaud
Because this dress is soft and frilly, I would edge-it-up with silver chain jewelry, a black baker boy hat, and black leather boots or even sneakers.
Batsheva
I would definitely wear this dress when I'm having a boho moment. It's begging for a wide-brimmed hat and mules.
Adam Lippes
A black graphic tee with sneakers for a casual look, and a black bodysuit with kitten heels for a dressier option.
Phillip Lim
Basically, these are Birkenstocks but tasteful. I would style these with a cropped wide-leg pant and an oversized tee for a street chic 'fit.
Tanya Taylor
I would immediately make this co-ord set street approved with a graphic tee underneath the blazer and white boots.
Derek Lam
This is giving me total western vibes, so I would play into that by styling it with an animal print boot and wide-brimmed hat.
