The House of Alexander McQueen recently released their pre-fall 2020 collection that blurs the lines of masculine/feminine, and light/heavy. With stereotypically masculine silhouettes comes feminine power; hello ultimate girl power! The collection also features fabrics that are known to be heavy, but manipulated in a structural way, and in contrast, breezy silhouettes and ruffles galore! In addition, both suits and gowns are a top highlight. Basically, McQueen has developed one big juxtaposition, and I like it. That mindset is what I work into my everyday fashion. Pictured below are my favorite looks and how I would wear each.
Pre-Fall 2020
I'm not sure if this is a dress or coat or both, but I'm into it. This is my dream outfit to wear to fashion week or even to the grocery store; whatever the mood strikes. Leather on leather is a bit bold, but who am I to critique McQueen? I'll also take those boots in a size 7, please.
Holy Moly. This gown screams 'exposure,' but I think we could all use a little bit of scandal in our lives. Although I'm not attending any red carpets soon, I would majorly dress this down with a leather jacket over the shoulders, styled with black pumps or boots, and keep accessories minimal.
Talk about knitwear dreams. If you can structure knits and not make them look frumpy, I'm sold. This is kind of giving me squid vibes, but in the chicest way possible. Keep the belt and boots, ditch the necklace, and add oversized black sunnies.
The light and airy look is a fantastic contrast to the more structured pieces in the collection. Most of the looks are hard with exquisite tailoring, while this is soft and feminine. Adding a boot would make this look more boho and suitable for ready-to-wear.
This is a power suit; it has CEO written all over it. The tailoring: impeccable. The detailing: impeccable. Me wearing it: impeccable. I honestly don't have any styling notes other than perfection.
I'm not a yellow gal, but I would conform for this. That's true love. No clue where I would wear this, but I'd sleep in it if it meant I could wear it everyday. I'd switch out the booties for taller ones and perhaps add a wide brim hat.
